Abstract
Influence of the most important biogenic elements – carbon, nitrogen and sulphur on the development of Dothichiza populea Sacc. et Br. has been studied by cultivation of the fungus on solid synthetic medium (Lilly, Barnett, 1951), in which specific compounds of the above mentioned elements were added. Out of seven different compounds used in the study as carbon sources, only two ( lactose and cellulose) have shown favourable influence on the growth of the fungus. Other compounds - glucose, maltose, starch, saccharose and fructose have expressed certain inhibitory influence on the growth of the fungus. When it comes to nitrogen sources, except for the base with L–asparagine, other sources did not manifest favourable influence on the growth of the fungus. Medium with L–glutamine did not have significant influence on the growth of colonies, while media with other compounds, such as potassium nitrate, glycine, ammonium sulphate and urea were unfavourable for fungus growth. Favourable source of sulphur for fungus growth was only the medium in which magnesium sulphate was added. The fungus did not grow on media with potassium sulphate, natrium thiosulphate, thiourea and ammonium sulphate.
