Abstract

This paper studies the effect of five planting spaces between 1.30 x 0.10 m to 1.30 x 0.30 m on the production 1/1 rooted cuttings of four clones of black poplars in the section Aigeiros (Duby): I-214, M-1, 182/81 and PE 19/66. The study clones had different reactions, both regarding mean diameter and mean height, and regarding the quality structure of the produced plants. In the study site conditions, the optimal planting space was selected based on the different height categories of the planting stock for each of the four clones. The study data point out that it is necessary to define different production technologies for individual groups of clones with similar silvicultural demands: site, planting space, tending, etc.
