Abstract

The characteristics of primary agricultural soils (chernozem, semiglay and humoglay) are examined in the work. These soils are endangered by harmful salts, by means of salinisation, as an acute degradation process. The area on that the analyzed soils are influenced by salinization is 78 000 ha, or 3.6% of the total area of Vojvodina. These soils have still preserved their stratigraphic composition, with weak or moderate presence of total salt in the physiologically active layer. Gained results of the saline soils characteristics research suggests that these soils can be used for the establishment of forests that would be buffer zone between fertile agricultural area and true salty soils.
