Abstract

The variability of eight characteristics of tolerance to poplar leaf moth Leucoptera sinnuela Rtti. for ten clones of black poplars (section Aigeiros Duby) in September of 2007 and 2008. Following characteristics are examined: number of mines per leaf (MN), number of cocoons per leaf (CN), percentage of leaves with damaged area up to: 20% (PMA20), 40% (PMA40), 60% (PMA60), 80% (PMA80), percentage of damaged leaves (PM) and percentage of leaves with cocoon (PC). Important contribution to selection could be obtained by S1-20, 1247 and 155/81. The results of these trials suggest the continuation of further research on improvement of the selection and breeding process in black poplars process considering the significance of damage that make poplar leaf moth.
