Abstract
Common oak is tree species of high economic and ecological importance and the improvement of this species is of special common interest. Vegetative propagation is interesting for clonal forestry and the establishment of vegetative seed orchards. Beside classical means of vegetative propagation (grafting and rooting of softwood cuttings) there is intensive work in the improvement of tissue culture methods now days. Special interest is in the micropropagation by axilary shoots and through somatic embryogenesis. Principal problems are caused by considerable differences among genotypes and adult physiological status of mature trees. In this work are presented some techniques that are proposed for resolving these problems.
