Abstract
This research deals with the effect of lead on growth parameters and concentration of photosynthetic pigments in leaves of four poplar clones from section Leuce cultivated in vitro. Microshoots were cultivated five weeks on solid ACM medium (Aspen Culture Medium) with addition of lead in form of Pb EDTA in different concentration (0, 10-5 and 10-4 M). The parameters investigated included: length of the main shoot, fresh mass, multiplication (number of axillary shoots per explantat) and concentration of photosynthetic pigments in leaves. Applied lead generally decreased height and fresh mass of shoots of all investigated clones, but differences in multiplication and concentration of photosynthetic pigments between control shoots and that treated with lead were not statistically significant. Investigated clones differed in their reactions on lead presence in growth medium.
