Abstract

The objective of this work was to describe and identify types of ectomycorrhiza in a white poplar (Populus alba L.) stand in the vicinity of Novi Sad, Vojvodina. Identification was achieved by combining morphological and anatomical descriptions with molecular methods (RFLP and sequencing of ITS region in ribosomal DNK). Six distinct types of ectomycorrhiza were observed. They were photographed and briefly described according to morphological, anatomical and molecular characteristics. Two types of ectomycorrhiza were identified to the species level (Tuber rufum and Inocybe squamata), two were determined to the genus level (Tomentella sp. and Inocybe sp.) and additional two types of ectomycorrhiza were determined to the family level of the fungal partner in ectomycorrhiza (Cortinariaceae and Thelephoraceae).
